DIY Furniture Wraps

Printed Wood Grain Vinyl Wraps

Are you looking for an easy way to upgrade your home and craft projects, even on a budget? Consider using wood grain vinyl films. These easy-to-use films cover almost any type of surface you can imagine in a variety of wood grains. You can enjoy the warmth of wood without the expense of buying handmade wood products. Don't settle for standard furniture. Upgrade with wood films to get the look you crave while saving money.

Understanding Wood Grain Vinyl Films

Wood grain films are peel-and-stick films you apply to any flat or even curved surface. They have the colors and appearance of the grain of real wood without the cost of buying and maintaining genuine wood products. Best of all, they are made with AirTec adhesives that feature air-release channels for bubble-free results every time you use them. You have multiple choices for wood grain, color and finish so you're sure to find the straight or burled wood finish you're looking for:

  • Afzelia Burlwood: A reddish burlwood with tight burls.
  • Amboyna Burlwood: A brown woodgrain with larger whorls and burls.
  • Ash: Whorled and straight grain with a light coloration.
  • Blackwood: A black woodgrain with some knotting and a linear grain.
  • Box Elder Burlwood: Caramel hued with tight whorls.
  • Burma Padauk Burlwood: Darker red burlwood.
  • Ebony: Dark gray with linear grain.
  • Elm: Straight grain with striations of varying intensities of brown and greens.
  • French Walnut: Dark brown walnut with straight grain.
  • Golden Oak: Straight grained oak.
  • Honey Burlwood: Honey colored burl with reddish overtones.
  • Marine Teak: Green brown teak with a straight grain.
  • Rustic Pine: Knotty pine.
  • Sapele: Straight and interlocked grain with a golden hue.
  • Shou Sugi Ban: Dark hued interlacing grains.
  • Vavona: This take on redwood is a burl with tight whorls.
  • Walnut Burlwood: A walnut tined burlwood.
  • White Alder: Finely grained with vertical striations.
  • Whitewash: Straight grains with an overexposed appearance.
  • Zebrawood: Interlacing grain with alternating bands of darker hues.

Whether you choose one wood grain or many, you cannot go wrong when selecting these films as an economical alternative to wood fixtures in your home. Anywhere you want the texture and color of wood, use these films. You will find virtually unlimited uses for these wood grain vinyl films.

DIY Furniture Wraps

Incorporating Wood Grain Wraps in Homes, Offices, and Schools

In the Home:

Wood grain wraps can add warmth and sophistication to various areas of your home.

  1. Furniture Makeover: Turn that old coffee table or dresser into a centerpiece. Adhering wood grain wraps can instantly rejuvenate even the most worn-out furniture.
  2. Wall Accents: Create a feature wall in your living room, bedroom, or hallway for a rustic or sophisticated touch.
  3. Kitchen Cabinets: Instead of spending on new cabinets, simply wrap your old ones for a refreshed look.
  4. Doors: Give plain doors a luxury wooden appearance without having to replace them.

In the Office:

  1. Desk and Workspaces: Give your work desk a makeover, or wrap the communal tables in meeting rooms for a more upscale and cohesive look.
  2. Reception Area: First impressions matter. Upgrade your reception or waiting area with wood grain wraps on counters, tables, or even wall panels.
  3. Storage Cabinets: Office storage units can often look clinical. Add a touch of elegance by wrapping them in wood grain films.
  4. Partitions: In open offices, partitions can be given a wood finish, providing a sense of privacy while elevating aesthetics.

In Schools:

  1. Library Makeover: Libraries can benefit from a cozy touch. Revamp reading tables, bookshelves, or even the circulation desk with wood grain wraps.
  2. Classroom Desks: Wrapping classroom desks can not only provide a refreshing look but also increase durability.
  3. Bulletin Boards: Instead of the conventional cork or plain boards, surround bulletin boards with wood grain wraps for a stylish touch.
  4. Common Areas: Places like the cafeteria or common study areas can be made more inviting with touches of wood grain patterns on tables, counters, or benches.

Tips for Using Wood Grain Wraps Effectively:

  1. Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean and free from dust or grease. A smooth surface ensures a seamless application.
  2. Tools: Invest in a quality squeegee to smooth out the wrap, ensuring no air bubbles are trapped beneath.
  3. Finishing: Once the wrap is applied, ensure that the edges are sealed properly. This is especially crucial in areas with high traffic or usage to prevent the wrap from peeling off.
  4. Maintenance: While these wraps are designed for durability, it's essential to treat them gently. Avoid using harsh chemicals or scrubbers during cleaning. A soft damp cloth should suffice for most cleaning needs.

By incorporating wood grain wraps in homes, offices, and schools, you can achieve an elevated aesthetic without the exorbitant costs and time involved in procuring and installing real wood. It's a practical, stylish, and cost-effective solution for revamping spaces.

Using Wood Grain Wraps in Vehicles

Vehicle interiors have long been a canvas for personal expression and luxury enhancement. Wood grain wraps, with their tactile richness and visual warmth, have become a go-to solution for car enthusiasts and those desiring an upscale vehicle interior look without the associated high costs. Here's how to make the most of these stylish wraps in your vehicle:

  1. Dashboard Upgrade: One of the most popular applications is the car dashboard. Transform a plain or aging dashboard into a luxurious wood grain finish. It's a sure way to bring classic elegance to your car's interior.

  2. Door Panels: Enhance the interior door panels with a wood grain touch. This is especially effective in creating a cohesive look when combined with the dashboard.

  3. Console Makeover: Center consoles, often made from plain plastic, can be given a complete makeover with these wraps. This not only elevates the look but can also help mask minor scratches or imperfections.

  4. Gear Shift & Steering Wheel: Small details matter. Wrapping the base of your gear shift or even parts of the steering wheel can make a noticeable difference. However, ensure the wrap doesn't interfere with the function or grip.

  5. Retro & Classic Cars: For owners of retro and classic cars wishing to replicate or maintain the 'woody' look, these wraps can be applied to exteriors, particularly the side panels. It’s a nod to the vintage style of yesteryears.

  6. RVs and Campers: Larger vehicles like RVs and campers can benefit from the warmth of wood, making the interiors feel more like a cozy home on wheels. Consider wrapping cabinets, tables, or even walls.

Tips for Vehicle Wrap Application:

  1. Surface Prep: Ensure the surface is impeccably clean. Any dust or residue can prevent the wrap from adhering properly, leading to bubbles or peeling.
  2. Temperature Matters: It's advisable to apply the wrap in moderate temperatures. Extreme cold can make the wrap too stiff, while extreme heat can make it too pliable.
  3. Stretch Carefully: While the wrap is designed to be stretched for a snug fit, overstretching can distort the wood grain pattern and compromise the adhesive.
  4. Post-application: Once applied, go over the surface with a soft cloth or squeegee to ensure there are no bubbles and the wrap adheres uniformly.
  5. Maintenance: Clean with a gentle cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals which might degrade the wrap's finish or adhesive.

Utilizing wood grain wraps in vehicles is an excellent way to give an upscale look, reminiscent of high-end luxury vehicles. Whether you're reviving a classic, upgrading your daily driver, or customizing a new purchase, wood grain vinyl wraps offer a unique combination of style and practicality.

I just finished installing on my Ford Country Squire. I am very satisfied with the product. Application was reasonably simply for a new vinyl user like me. This is a cast vinyl, perfect for the automotive use. No adhesion issues and easy to work around curves in the body. I would purchase this again for another project. Customer service is also great!

Wood Grain Vinyl Wrap Film

I am a 92 year old amateur do-it-your-selfer with an '89 Buick Century "woody" station wagon. The factory vinyl wood grain had deteriorated badly and was an embarrassment, so I figured I'd give your Rvinyl a try on the worst side of the car. I was concerned about problems with applying the film on the compound curve around the flared wheelwell openings and was prepared to use a heat gun to help the film apply. To my delight , using a squeegy and care, it went on beautifully with no heat. Your wood grain pattern is more pronounced than the factory's but more subdued than the oak flooring in my house. I'd say it's just right for a car. I wasn't really planning to do the other side because it wasn't so faded, but the "bad" side now looked so good and the film went on so easily I ordered some more and did the rest of the panels.
People have commented that my 35 year old woody now looks like a new car !

First Time user on boat interior cabinets and walls. Bringing new life to a 1998 40' SeaRay

I learned quickly that the product likes to be warm. I struggled with smoothing out wrinkles when it was 64 degrees. The next install was in 75 degrees and it laid out very easily.
I am working on the easy part first, the cabinet doors. The area I will tackle next is on the interior walls with curves and tight corners so I am expecting a challenge but the more I work with the product the more I understand it.
A suggestion that would help using grain patterns would be on the backing paper. It is difficult keeping the grain straight on the front. Markings on the backing paper, like is on Christmas wrapping paper, would really help. Straight lines or blocks.
