If two-dimensional graphics on vinyl wraps seem underwhelming, the three-dimensional designs with structured vinyl should grab your attention. Structured vinyl wraps give simple graphics a new layer of complexity and look great on almost any surface, from your car’s exterior to the fridge door or your favorite guitar body. Learn more about structured vinyl and what you can do with it here!
Structured vinyl is a vinyl wrap with a textured surface. Whereas regular vinyl involves designs or colors on smooth surfaces, structured vinyl adds an extra dimension to your project.
On vehicles, structured vinyl is used more for restyling accents and interior fine detailing than complete wraps. Car owners who choose structured wraps often use them to complement rather than replace smooth vinyl film for their wrap projects. Structured vinyl adds that extra panache for a genuinely striking exterior.
ORACAL® 975 Premium Structure Cast is the premier type of structured vinyl available. This structure cast vinyl is made from multilayered cast polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film at approximately 5-6 mils thick with high-end stability. As a cast material, the PVC is melted to a liquid form and then poured onto a casting sheet, where it is subjected to high temperatures to produce a flexible film and precisely textured finish. In comparison to regular vinyl film, the benefits of cast PVC film include:
Those benefits directly apply to structure cast wraps on your vehicle, furniture, instruments, phone, laptop or whatever project you have in mind with structured vinyl.
Structured vinyl comes in various styles, sizes and colors. At Rvinyl, our ORACAL structured wraps come in 60-inch widths and lengths from 12 inches to 25 yards. They also come in such colors as:
Our unique styles are cocoon, dune, emulsion and honeycomb wraps. Here is some more information on each of those structured vinyl styles.
Our cocoon wraps are available in black and silver-gray options. They have a three-dimensional, venous appearance that resembles bare tree branches or ice forming over a window in the winter. These vinyl wraps are designed with RapidAir® technology, so they have superior repositioning capabilities and fewer bubbles than other wraps. Although the name “cocoon” may suggest butterflies and caterpillars, this design is icy cool and full of application potential.
You can purchase dune wraps in either black or brown. The design on dune wraps could easily be named after zebras or tree bark. However, if you look closely, you can see how their curvy lines resemble the wavy ridges scattered across sand dunes. This wrap is also nice and thick, streamlining installation as it is less susceptible to overstretching.
Like the cocoon wraps, our selection of emulsion vinyl wraps also comes in black and silver-gray. Its name and design are based on mixing otherwise unmixable substances, resulting in mass bubbling — think oil and vinegar. Thus, the design on emulsion wraps appears like bubbles frozen in time. When applied to a surface, like the hood of a car or a guitar body, it resembles snakeskin. Despite the bubbly design, the air-release adhesives ensure you can install the wrap bubble-free.
Honeycomb wraps come in a wider variety of colors than the other three. You can order them in black, deep blue, gold, silver-gray or tin. With these wraps, each shade gives the design a unique flair. Although honeycomb is the overarching design, the color you choose can also provide an extra dash of style.
For example, the black option suggests barbecued honeycomb or honeycomb that has survived a forest fire. The blue and silver honeycomb wraps have a futuristic element, bringing coding images in supercomputers to mind. The gold wrap is a classic honeycomb design, suggesting a brick of fresh honeycomb.
As structured vinyl is well suited to fine detailing, it also lends itself well to various vehicular and non-vehicular applications. Here are a few suggestions on what you can do with structured vinyl!

My first wrap project to eliminate piano black interior surfaces with something easier to clean and maintain yet looks very nice. Turned out very well. Thicker more durable material should last a long time.

Saw this material on a vehicle at a car show and fell in love. My installer couldn't get it through his supplier, so I bought it from rvinyl. The availability, cost and SUPER FAST shipping can't be beat. The install went great and the end result is AMAZING!!!! Will buy from rvinyl again.
