Infiniti, like Lexus and Acura before it, was part of the wave of Japanese import luxury brands that first crashed on American shores at the beginning of the penultimate decade of the last millennium. In 1989 Nissan Motors launched the marque due to competition from Honda's Acura and Toyota's Lexus whose first models were released directly to the US market well before Nissan had even completed the new marque's global penetration. The rushed production meant that the Q45 was the first Infiniti to be released outside of Japan as an ample sized V8 with an active suspension and modern styling. Infiniti's next release, the M30, was considered a misstep by many because it was intended to be a direct competitor to the incredibly popular Lexus SC and was eventually discontinued due to its lackluster performance. The G20 arrived in 1991 and was intended to be the entry-level luxury sedan replete with leather seats and trim and a near-performance engine. The J30 quickly followed only a year later and was notable only in that it featured a rear wheel drive configuration. We've come up with a pretty simple formula to help you determine how much vinyl your Infiniti will need. In short, just measure the length of your vehicle and multiply it by three (one for each side and the roof, hood and trunk) plus add an extra 5 to 15 feet for bumpers, rocker panels, spoilers and error. The following example should help:
