GMC's motto is "We Are Professional Grade" and that certainly seems like an apt description. GMC has been making trucks since way back in 1912 when it fielded its first offering at the NY International Auto Show. As a testament to its reliability and performance the first GMC truck made the 30-day trip from Seattle to New York City. In 1925 GM added the bus maker Yellow Coach changing its name to the GM Truck and Coach Division and firmly entrenched the company in the professional sphere. With the coming of World War II, GM produced more than half a million trucks for the United States Armed Forces and was key in enduring victory for the US. After the war the GMC C/K light truck series was launched, blazing a trail for future greats like the Sierra and the Chevrolet Silverado.
Fast-forward to the so-called Golden Age of the 1980s when the company experienced great successes during this period were the Jimmy and Sierra both light duty pick-ups. The GMC Yukon (aka the Chevy Tahoe) premiered in 1992 and marked GM’s entrance into the SUV fray of the 1990s. GMC had never yet attempted to enter the luxury market but 1998 heralded the arrival of the Envoy which was usurped the Jimmy’s position in the line-up by 2002. The last years of the 2010s were a time of difficulty and soul searching for GMC due to the Great Recession but now, almost a decade later, is as strong as ever. The sky's the limit when you're laying it instead of spraying it.
Use the following formula to figure out how much vinyl your GMC will need to get a complete wrap. Take the length of your vehicle and multiply it by three (one for each side and the roof, hood and trunk) plus an extra 5 to 15 feet for bumpers, rocker panels, spoilers and mistakes. The following example should help:
Please note: GMC vehicle wraps are meant for application only on OEM paint jobs.
