How Much Vinyl Do I Need to Wrap My Corvette?




First Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C1) (1953-1962)

Development of the Corvette started in late 1951 as "Project Opel" and was the brainchild of General Motors designer Harley Earl. Introduced in late 1953 and ending in 1962, this was the official introductory generation. It's often referred to as the "solid-axle" models. A neat tidbit is that there were around 300 hand-assembled polo white Corvette convertibles produced for the 1953 model year.

First Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C1) Measurements

For the first generation Chevrolet Corvette, you will need about 15 yards of vinyl wraps to completely wrap it. The vinyl wrap is going to cover the entire exterior besides the windows, lights, and tires. That includes the doors, trunks, hoods, roof, pillar post trim, bumpers, mirrors, rocker panels, and fenders. For partial wraps, 5 yards is a great option since that covers one side of the vehicle.

Second Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C2) (1963-1967)

The second-generation Corvette introduced the "Sting Ray" model. It was because this specialized model had the largest effect on the styling of this generation. 1963 was also the first year a Corvette coupe featured a distinctive tapering rear deck. The Sting Ray had an independent rear suspension, hidden headlamps, and non-functional hood vents.

Second Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C2) Measurements

To fully wrap your second generation Chevrolet Corvette, you will need 15 yards of vinyl wraps as the vehicle and will still have some leftover. The vinyl wrap will give completely wrap your vehicle excluding the doors, trunks, hoods, roof, pillar post trim, bumpers, mirrors, rocker panels, and fenders. If you want to do a partial wrap, remember that one side of the vehicle is about 5 yards and plan accordingly.

Third Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C3) (1968-1982)

Arriving on the scene in 1968, the third-generation Corvette's body and interior were completely new and were patterned after the Mako Shark II concept car and looked straight-up ruthless. The car's styling was altered slightly over the years until 1978 with Corvette's 25th anniversary. The 25th-anniversary model introduced an updated interior and a fastback rear window.

Third Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C3) Measurements

For the third generation Chevrolet Corvette, 15 yards of vinyl wraps will be needed to fully wrap it. Each side and the roof are about 5 yards and you will have enough leftover to cover the rest of your vehicle. To completely wrap your vehicle, you will have to wrap the doors, trunks, hoods, roof, pillar post trim, bumpers, mirrors, rocker panels, and fenders. The windows, lights, and tires won't be wrapped and you will have to follow instructions on how to cut the wrap. For a partial wrap, select what want to do and use a rough estimate since each side is about 5.5 yards long.

Fourth Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C4) (1984-1996)

The fourth-generation Corvette was the first fully completed redesign since 1963. Between 1984 and 1988, the Corvettes offered a Dough Nash design "4+3" transmission. This featured a 4-speed manual hooked up to an automatic overdrive on the top three gears. This was a result of the strict U.S. fuel economy standards at the time.

Completely wrap your fourth generation Chevrolet Corvette by using 15 yards of vinyl wrap. You will easily be able to wrap the doors, trunks, hoods, roof, pillar post trim, bumpers, mirrors, rocker panels, and fenders and still have some vinyl to spare. Follow the instructions in the video to properly cut the vinyl wrap so it doesn't cover the windows, tires, and lights. If you only want to do a partial for your fourth gen Chevrolet Corvette, remember that five yards is more than enough to cover one side of the vehicle.

Fifth Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C5) (1997-2004)

The fifth-generation is remembered as the most completely redesigned Corvette since the car's introduction in 1953, more so than even the fourth-gen. Production began in 1996 but due to manufacturing and quality control issues, it was delayed until 1997. This Corvette incorporated a new LS1 aluminum engine featuring individual ignition coils. For the first year, you could only purchase the car in a coupe trim for the first year before the convertible option came around in 1998.

Fifth Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C5) Measurements

The fifth generation Chevrolet Corvettes were sleeker than previous models and thus won't need as much vinyl wrap as a result. For a complete wrap, you will need 15 yards of vinyl wrap. That cover the doors, trunks, hoods, roof, pillar post trim, bumpers, mirrors, rocker panels, and fenders and you should still have some leftover. Make sure to not cover the windows, lights, or tires during installation. You can also do a partial. Each side is about 5.3 yards so plan accordingly.

Sixth Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C6) (2005-2013)

The sixth-generation featured minimal body alterations and an updated interior for the 2005 model year. Due to these changes the passenger hip room was given a small increase for continued comfort. Another change was the LS1/LS6 engine was now renamed to the LS2.

Just like the fifth generation, the sixth generation of Chevrolet Corvette's were built to be a bit slimmer than the previous iterations. That is why you will need 15 yards of vinyl wrap to completely wrap your vehicle. That includes the doors, trunks, hoods, roof, pillar post trim, bumpers, mirrors, rocker panels, and fenders. Remember to not cover the windows, lights, and wheels when installing your vinyl wrap. If you want to do a partial, use one side of the vehicle as a reference as each side is almost 5.3 yards long.

Seventh Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C7) (2014-2019)

The seventh-generation Corvette was originally supposed to be manufactured in 2011 but ended up being delayed for three years. When it finally did arrive on the market, it incorporated all-new features such as a removable roof panel and carbon fiber hood for consumers that wanted to buy those options. The second-generation Sting Ray was revived under the new name "Stingray" as well.

Eighth Generation Chevrolet Corvette (C8) (2020-Now)

The eighth-generation Corvette arrived within a three-month timeframe in 2020. The coupe was introduced on July 19th with the convertible released three months later. Both the convertible and coupe are powered by a 6.2 liter V8. This gen debuts a retractable hardtop convertible roof, a first for the Corvette line along with a mid-engine configuration.

This was by far the easiest installation i have done. First time wrapping a hood and it took a few hours smoothing the air bubble out but i was very pleased with the out come.
