Jaguar was originally founded in 1922 and exclusively manufactured motorcycles but leading up to WWII, the company began to produce passenger cars. In 1935 the company released the iconic SS Jaguar 100 but with the outbreak of World War II, SS Cars changed its name to Jaguar to avoid any association with the Nazi SS. The next car of note produced by the company was the XK120 which had an inline V6 engine and was available in three different configurations: sedan, coupe or drop-top convertible. The first Jaguar to hit American roads was the 1951 Mark VII Saloon which won the Monte Carlo Rally five years after its release.
Skipping ahead almost fifty years to the 1990s, Jaguar reclaimed its dominance with several standouts such as the 1996 XK8 sporting the marque’s first V8 engine. The XJR was another notable entrant making its appearance in the middle of the decade and featuring a supercharged AJ16 six cylinder engine. In 1998 the S-Type was released with a supercharged model following only a few short years later which directly and successfully competed with Mercedes-Benz’ E-Class and the BMW M45. Another shining star from this period was the X-Type, built on Ford’s CD132 frame amid intended to be a mid-market offering. The Jaguar S-Type, first appeared in 1999 but stopped production in 2008 having been replaced by the Jaguar XF. Early S-Types suffered from reliability problems but those were mostly resolved by the 2004 model year. The Jaguar X-Type was a compact executive car launched in 2001, while the company was under Ford ownership. The Jaguar XK is a luxury grand tourer introduced in 2006, where it replaced the XK8. Introduced an aluminum unibody, and was available both as a two-door coupé and two-door cabriolet/convertible but it has been discontinued as of 2014. We've come up with a pretty simple formula to help you determine how much vinyl your Jaguar will need. In short, just measure the length of your vehicle and multiply it by three (one for each side and the roof, hood and trunk) plus add an extra 5 to 15 feet for bumpers, rocker panels, spoilers and error. The following example should help:
