The VW Jetta is not only a beauty to behold in all of its various incarnations but it is reliable to a fault and guaranteed to be on the road for years after Ford and Chevy sedans have been consigned to the scrap yard. Due to this, you may find that you need a quick, affordable and hassle-free solution to upgrading, refinishing and protecting your Jetta's dash board and interior trim. You could always go the route of a thick, polyurethane (people usually call them plastic dash kits) dash kit that applies with 3M™ foam tape but those stick out like a sore thumb and are permanent. Luckily for you, there are other options and we've got them right here.
Because we wanted to find a solution to the problem of restoring the loo of old or just plain boring dash trim we developed a vinyl laminate Rdash™ dash trim kit. Made from premium vinyl films with adhesives especially designed to adhere to the low-energy plastics of your dashboard you not only get the look you want but a choice of almost 100 different colors and finishes. Choose from glossy or matte colors, 3D or 4D Carbon Fibers in a variety of shades, realistic Wood Grains, Brushed Aluminum and colored Chromes as well. Best of all, since these kits are made using vinyl laminates they are mere thousandths of an inch in thickness so they look factory when installed. And, since the adhesives are semi-permanent they can be removed without taking your entire dash with them.
The Jetta was first introduced many, many moons ago in 1980 and it has long enjoyed not inconsiderable success in the North American automotive market. Despite being almost indistinguishable from the long-dead Rabbit hatchback and Golf/GTI, the Jetta has consistently and handily outsold its hump-backed brethren in the US for decades. Want to know why? Although we can't be one hundred percent certain we're pretty sure that it has everything to do with one feature that the Jetta sedan has that's missing in the Golf and GTI and it's the trunk. In American car culture, welding a trunk onto a hatch is kind of like strapping a safe onto your ride: not only does it actually protect your stuff but it also gives the distinct impression that you’ve got stuff worth protecting — regardless of whether it's a flat tire and a case of ranch dressing from Costco.
Possibly the most convincing reason that the Jetta has pride of place in Volkswagen's North American sales is the status factor. Let's face it, people like to say they own a German-made car and the Jetta is at once German and the lowest-priced entry in VW’s sedan lineup. In short, you can seem more interesting, look richer and pay less than you would buying even a C-Class sedan or Audi A4. Clearly, the VW Jetta is a winning combination.
When you buy and install an Rdash™ VW Jetta dash kit you get the ease of a precut graphics kit that is made to fit your Jetta like a glove. Once you've finished the application process, we invite you to hare your experience with us by leaving a review and sending us in your photos and videos of the installed dash trim. In fact, we want to see it so much that we'll even give you up to twenty dollars cash back in exchange for six or more high-quality photos.
I would give it five stars but the radio surround on the 01 Jetta is tricky. Other than that, it came out well. Comes with extra pieces so you won't install everything. The brushed aluminum finish looks really cool and you can feel it when you touch it.
