ORACAL® Vehicle Wraps

When you decide to wrap your vehicle, it's essential to choose a product that balances quality, performance, and aesthetics. ORACAL® Vehicle Wraps offer all of this and more. With their reputation for excellence in vinyl manufacturing, ORACAL® has become a go-to brand for car enthusiasts, professional vehicle wrappers, and DIYers alike. Their slogan, "Engineered to Perform Better™," reflects their commitment to providing a superior product that not only looks great but also lasts for years under various conditions.

Vehicle wraps have grown in popularity over the years as a cost-effective and customizable alternative to traditional paint jobs. Instead of repainting your car, which can be both expensive and time-consuming, vinyl wraps allow you to change your vehicle's appearance quickly, affordably, and without any permanent alterations. Whether you're looking to advertise your business, express your personality, or protect your car's original paint, ORACAL® Vehicle Wraps are an excellent solution.

One of the standout features of ORACAL® is the variety of wrap options available. In addition to the popular opaque colors found in the 970RA line, ORACAL® also offers their 975 Structure Premium Cast Wrapping films. These wraps provide a unique, three-dimensional texture that adds depth and a tactile experience to your vehicle's surface. This textured film isn't just for show; it enhances the wrap's durability and provides a more distinct, custom look. Whether you prefer a sleek, glossy finish or a rugged, textured one, ORACAL® Vehicle Wraps offer endless possibilities to make your car truly your own.

Let's dive deeper into the different product lines, features, and specifications of ORACAL® Vehicle Wraps, and explore why they are a great investment for transforming your vehicle.

ORACAL® 970RA Series Specifications

The ORACAL® 970RA series is known for its high-quality cast vinyl, which is designed specifically for vehicle wraps. These wraps are ideal for personal vehicles, fleet vehicles, and even commercial wraps. The 970RA series offers a range of colors and finishes, providing options for any taste or style. Whether you're looking to add a pop of color, a sleek matte finish, or a bold metallic sheen, this series has something for everyone.

Here are the key specifications that make the ORACAL® 970RA series stand out:

  • Finish: The finish of the wrap can vary depending on the color and style chosen. Options include glossy, matte, metallic, and even satin finishes. This allows you to customize the look of your vehicle to match your preferences, whether you want a high-shine gloss or a more understated matte effect.

  • Installation Temperature Range: The wraps must be installed when the temperature is at least +60°F (+16°C). This ensures proper adhesion and helps the vinyl conform to the surface of your vehicle. Attempting to install the wrap in colder temperatures can make it difficult for the adhesive to bond correctly, leading to imperfections.

  • End Use Temperature Range: Once applied, ORACAL® wraps can withstand extreme temperatures. From the coldest climates (-58°F) to the hottest conditions (+248°F), these wraps are designed to last without cracking, peeling, or fading. This durability is one of the reasons ORACAL® wraps are trusted by professional installers around the world.

  • Adhesives: The wraps use a grey, solvent-based adhesive that is both repositionable and permanent. During installation, the adhesive allows you to reposition the wrap as needed, making it easier to get a perfect fit. Once the wrap is in place, the adhesive becomes permanent, ensuring that the wrap stays put for years. If you ever need to remove the wrap, it can be done with the application of heat, leaving little to no adhesive residue behind.

  • Liner: The 89# PE-Coated Silicone Paper liner helps the wrap maintain its shape during installation. It prevents the vinyl from stretching too much, which can lead to distortions in the design.

  • Conformability: One of the most important features of a vehicle wrap is its ability to conform to the curves and contours of a car. ORACAL® wraps offer superior conformability, meaning they can wrap around complex surfaces like bumpers, mirrors, and door handles without wrinkling or lifting.

  • Thickness: The wrap is 4.0 mil thick, which strikes the perfect balance between durability and flexibility. It's thick enough to protect your vehicle's paint from minor scratches and road debris but thin enough to conform smoothly to the vehicle's surface.

  • Application Type: ORACAL® wraps can be applied using either a wet or dry method, depending on the installer’s preference. The wet method involves spraying a solution on the surface before applying the vinyl, which allows for easier repositioning. The dry method involves applying the vinyl directly to the surface and using air-release technology to eliminate bubbles.

Installation: A Step-by-Step Guide

Ready to give your vehicle a new look with ORACAL® Vehicle Wraps? Here's a step-by-step guide to help you install your wrap like a pro:

  1. Choose Your Perfect Shade: The first step in the installation process is selecting the right color, pattern, or texture for your vehicle. ORACAL® offers a wide variety of options, so take your time to find the one that best suits your style.

  2. Clean the Surface: Before you start applying the wrap, it's important to thoroughly clean your vehicle's surface. Any dirt, dust, or oil can prevent the vinyl from adhering properly, leading to bubbles or imperfections. Use a mild detergent and water to wash the car, and then dry it completely with a clean microfiber cloth.

  3. Layout the Film: Once your vehicle is clean, lay the film out on the surface to position it correctly. This step allows you to visualize how the wrap will look and make any necessary adjustments before applying it.

  4. Apply the Film: Begin applying the film to the vehicle, starting at one edge and working your way across. Use a squeegee or a soft applicator to smooth out the film as you go, pressing down firmly to ensure a strong bond. ORACAL® wraps are designed with air-release technology, which helps to eliminate bubbles and create a smooth finish.

  5. Use Heat for Precision: If you encounter any bubbles or wrinkles during the application, use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently warm the vinyl. The heat will make the vinyl more pliable, allowing you to stretch it into place and smooth out any imperfections.

  6. Allow it to Set: After the wrap is applied, give it some time to set and bond to the surface. Avoid washing the vehicle or exposing it to extreme temperatures for at least 24 hours to ensure the best results.

ORACAL® Wrap Care and Maintenance

Once your ORACAL® wrap is installed, it's important to take care of it to ensure it stays looking great for years to come. Here are some tips for maintaining your vehicle wrap:

  1. Regular Cleaning: Keep your wrapped vehicle clean by washing it regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the vinyl. A soft microfiber cloth or sponge is best for wiping down the surface.

  2. Avoid Automatic Car Washes: While ORACAL® wraps are durable, it's best to avoid automatic car washes with stiff brushes, as these can scratch or lift the vinyl. Hand washing is the safest method for maintaining the wrap's appearance.

  3. Use a Vinyl-Safe Wax: If you want to add an extra layer of protection, consider using a vinyl-safe wax or sealant. This will help protect the wrap from UV rays and environmental contaminants, keeping it looking fresh and shiny.

  4. Inspect for Damage: Regularly inspect your wrap for any signs of damage, such as lifting edges or scratches. If you notice any issues, address them promptly to prevent further damage. Small scratches can often be smoothed out with heat, while larger issues may require patching or replacement of the affected area.

The ORACAL® 975 Structure Premium Cast Wrapping Films

If you're looking for something truly unique, the ORACAL® 975 Structure Premium Cast Wrapping films offer a tactile experience that sets them apart from traditional vehicle wraps. These wraps feature a textured, three-dimensional finish that not only looks incredible but also feels different from the typical smooth vinyl.

The 975 Structure Premium Cast Wrapping films are available in a range of textures, including carbon fiber, brushed metal, honeycomb, and crocodile skin. These textures add depth and dimension to your vehicle, making it stand out on the road. The textured vinyl is also highly durable, providing an extra layer of protection to your vehicle's paint.

Textured wraps are an excellent choice for anyone who wants to give their vehicle a custom look. They are often used on luxury vehicles, sports cars, and even motorcycles to create a bold, eye-catching appearance. The textured finish also adds a layer of sophistication and elegance, making your vehicle look like a high-end, custom creation.

In addition to their visual appeal, the 975 Structure Premium Cast Wrapping films are designed to be just as easy to install as the 970RA series. They feature the same air-release technology, allowing for a bubble-free application. The wraps are also repositionable, so you can adjust the placement as needed during installation.

Why Choose ORACAL® Vehicle Wraps?

There are many reasons why ORACAL® Vehicle Wraps are a top choice for car enthusiasts, businesses, and professional installers alike. Here are some of the key benefits:

  1. Durability: ORACAL® wraps are designed to last. With a lifespan of up to 12 years, you can trust that your vehicle wrap will look great for years to come. The wraps are resistant to UV rays, extreme temperatures, and road debris, ensuring that they won't fade, crack, or peel over time.

  2. Easy Removal: One of the best features of ORACAL® wraps is their easy removal process. If you ever decide to change the look of your vehicle or remove the wrap entirely, you can do so without damaging the original paint. The adhesive allows for clean removal with little to no residue left behind, making it a great option for leased vehicles or anyone who wants to change their car's appearance frequently.

  3. Customization: With a wide range of colors, finishes, and textures to choose from, ORACAL® wraps allow you to customize your vehicle in a way that traditional paint jobs simply can't match. Whether you're going for a bold, attention-grabbing color or a sleek, understated finish, there's an ORACAL® wrap for you.

  4. Protection: In addition to enhancing your vehicle's appearance, ORACAL® wraps also provide an extra layer of protection to your car's original paint. The vinyl acts as a barrier against scratches, chips, and other damage caused by road debris. This is especially important if you plan to resell your vehicle, as the wrap can help preserve the condition of the paint underneath.

  5. Cost-Effective: Compared to a professional paint job, vehicle wraps are much more affordable. Not only do they cost less upfront, but they also offer long-term savings by protecting your car's original paint and maintaining its resale value.

  6. DIY-Friendly: While professional installation is always an option, ORACAL® wraps are designed to be user-friendly for DIY enthusiasts. The air-release technology and repositionable adhesive make it easy to achieve a professional-looking finish, even if it's your first time wrapping a vehicle.

How much do i need for my car? There's a lot of options don't know which one i need. What's the difference besides the price?

The price of your wrap will vary by two factors, the size you need and the finish you need. Gloss films are the least expensive while textured and embossed wraps like carbon fiber are more expensive as they cost more to make. How much you need really depends on what you want to wrap, but we have some guides here:

How much do I need to wrap all the exterior of a 99 Silverado 1500 ext cab
April 25, 2020 7:03 AM
Jacob329, These wraps are 60" or 5ft wide so they are perfect for wrapping a pickup truck. We usually recommend 20 - 25yds for the extended cab Silverado. The 1999 year model is pretty flat, so it is a bit easier to wrap. Buying a little more a safe way to make sure you have enough for your Chevy and to allow for color matching in case of damaged areas.
