I installed it myself. It went on fairly easy on a glass targa top. When I finished up one end, it started to wrinkle. I pulled it back up it wrinkled again. The creases stayed in the vinyl and looked like crap. The vinyl I ordered I thought would have a gloss black look but it looked more dull. After several days being on, the look was not up to my standards, so off it came

I want to wrap the trim of my car but I’m not sure if this is the right product to be looking at. If it is, what size would you recommend?
June 22, 2020 9:52 PM
Yaseen, Yes, this would work great for a chrome delete on your Lexus. You would probably need a 24" x 60" sheet and then cut it into slightly oversized 1-3" sheets, apply, heat and trim!

I want to do a chrome delete on a ‘16 IS300
June 23, 2020 8:49 PM
Yaseen, A 12" - 36" by 60" sheet will work well for most trim. It really depends on what you are trying to wrap and if you are doing an interior trim wrap or exterior trim wrap such as a chrome delete project. If you want tot let us know a little more about what you are going to wrap, we could give a little bit more guidance. Hope this helps, good luck with the project and be sure to share #RVINYL

I want to wrap my front bumper of my 2011 Golf (GTI bumper) how much product should I buy? I wanted to buy some extra so I could wrap the whole bumper and have some left over. This would be my first time wrapping anything though
July 20, 2020 1:55 PM
Spoolin’Fool, You are going to need about 10ft to wrap it in a single piece. You will still have material leftover because of its width. Bumpers are probably the hardest to wrap, please take your time!

I’m looking to wrap the 2 mirror back covers. How much would i need ??
August 21, 2020 2:21 PM
Neil, You can probably get away with a 12" x 60" wrap or it maybe easier to have more surface to "pull" the wrap with a 24" x 60" wrap. It may also depend on the size of your mirror. Car mirrors and tow mirrors for trucks are very different in size!

Wrapping external store front mullions. Will you cut theses in 6 inch wide strips x what ever length or yards if purchased?
September 24, 2020 4:08 PM
This film will certainly work on wrapping mullions, assuming they are not wooden. They would probably need to be an extruded aluminum. We do not offer offer that size or at this time offer custom converting.

I’m planning on wrapping my 2002 Toyota Sequoia with this what size would you suggest for the full exterior
November 20, 2020 7:42 PM
Great news, you have an awesome SUV. Bad news, its big and going to need a little extra film compared to a compact! You are probably going to need about 20-22 yards for a full wrap of your Sequoia. This would be enough for areas you may choose to redo and to have some from the same batch for areas you might need to redo the line. How much would I need to wrap my 2015 Subaru wrx
January 31, 2021 1:59 PM
Kilee, You are probably going to need about 22-23 yards for your WRX. This will give you a little extra film to if you needed to redo the hood or have some left over for interior wraps. We have two great articles you can read to help in your buying decision: Buying Guide How Much Vinyl To Buy

I want to wrap the hood of my Tesla Model 3. How much film should I order? How do I account for the hood emblem?
February 6, 2021 6:10 PM
George, Your probably going to need about a 6' or 72" long wrap. Most customers will remove the emblem and reinstall it after the wrap. We recommend you watch this video below to get a good idea of how to measure for your Tesla's hood wrap project. How to Measure Your Vehicle for Vinyl Wrapping

I want to wrap the chrome trim by the doors on my 2012 g37 sedan. Which size do you recommend?
March 3, 2021 12:58 AM
Gorge, Great question. We would probably use a 24" x 60" wrap and cut it into strips. To be on the safest side a 36" would probably leave you room to redo any of the "chrome delete" without issue.

I’m looking to wrap my roof glossy black on my Mitsubishi lancer 2009 what would I need ?
August 3, 2023 11:08 AM
To wrap the roof of your 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer in glossy black vinyl, you'll need high-quality vinyl wrap (such as 3M 2080 or Avery Dennison), a vinyl application squeegee, a precision cutting knife, a heat gun or hairdryer, isopropyl alcohol and clean microfiber cloths, masking tape, measuring tape, gloves (optional), and a soft cloth or felt-edge squeegee. Start by thoroughly cleaning the roof with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to ensure it's free from dirt and grease. Measure the roof, adding a few extra inches on each side, and cut the vinyl wrap to size. Position the vinyl over the roof, secure one edge with masking tape, and peel off the backing while smoothing the vinyl onto the roof with the squeegee, working from the center outwards to avoid air bubbles. Use a heat gun or hairdryer to gently heat the vinyl, making it more pliable and easier to conform to the roof’s curves and edges. Continuously smooth out the vinyl and trim the excess material with the precision cutting knife, making clean cuts along the edges. Reapply heat to ensure the vinyl adheres securely, pressing down the edges for a finished look. Finally, inspect for any remaining air bubbles or imperfections, smoothing them out and ensuring all edges are securely adhered for a professional-looking glossy black roof wrap on your Lancer.

I want to do a chrome delete on a 2018 Jeep Compass. How do you suggest I go about it? Not sure about the badges yet
June 21, 2024 3:41 PM
To perform a chrome delete on a 2018 Jeep Compass using 3M 2080 gloss black vinyl, start by thoroughly washing the vehicle and wiping down the chrome surfaces with isopropyl alcohol to remove any oils and residues. Measure the dimensions of each chrome piece you want to wrap and cut the vinyl into slightly larger sections. Begin with smaller chrome pieces, peeling the backing off the vinyl and carefully placing it over the chrome. Use a squeegee to smooth out the vinyl from the center to the edges, removing air bubbles and wrinkles. Gently heat the vinyl with a heat gun or hairdryer to make it more pliable, allowing it to conform to curves and edges. Carefully trim the excess vinyl along the edges with a precision cutting knife, using masking tape as a guide for clean cuts. Reapply heat to the edges and seams to ensure the vinyl adheres securely and press down the edges for a finished look. Repeat the process for all chrome pieces, including window trim, grille accents, and door handles. Work in a clean, dust-free environment and take your time with each piece for the best results. The 3M 2080 vinyl is forgiving, so you can reposition it if necessary. With careful application, you can achieve a professional-looking chrome delete on your Jeep Compass.

I ordered a 5x15 sheet of wrap with the idea to wrap my hood/roof/maybe trunk on an 2009 crown Victoria. I layed the wrap on the hood only to find out that it was about an inch and a half too short on both sides (horizontally, it was long enough to reach the windshield and grill). I tried stretching it with heat but the film just wrinkled and the panel was lost. I can’t find a 6ft wide 3M wrap, what do I do?
October 27, 2024 11:20 PM
To wrap your car hood in vinyl using two sections with 3M Knifeless Tape, start by thoroughly cleaning the hood to ensure no dirt or grease interferes with the vinyl application. Decide where you want to divide the hood and lay down the Knifeless Tape along this line, making sure it’s precisely aligned. Next, apply the first section of vinyl, smoothing it out with a squeegee from the center outward to eliminate air bubbles, and use a heat gun to help it conform to any curves. Once this section is fully adhered, pull the filament of the Knifeless Tape to cut the vinyl along the line, leaving a clean edge, and smooth it down with the squeegee. Repeat these steps on the other side of the hood, overlapping slightly over the first section. Lay a second strip of Knifeless Tape over the edge of the first section to cut the overlapping vinyl cleanly, then peel away the excess, creating a seamless joint. Finish by using a heat gun to gently warm the edges and the seam, pressing down with a microfiber cloth to secure the wrap and remove any remaining bubbles. This method leaves a professional finish with clean edges and no visible overlap. Please watch this video: Seamless Vinyl Wrap
